Explore the beauty of nature with our guided hiking adventures
Service Description
Hiking isn't simply walking uphill. Effective hiking involves rhythm, pacing, movement economy, and physical capacity precisely matched to terrain and distance. Hiking fitness training ensures you're ready, transforming the experience from ordeal to adventure. THE SCIENCE OF HIKING FITNESS Hiking demands sustained aerobic capacity, muscular endurance in legs, hips, and core, and eccentric strength for controlling descent—something most fitness programs neglect. Multi-day treks add another dimension: fitness that endures across consecutive days with limited recovery, which requires progressive, sustained preparation rather than a single weekly session. PROGRESSIVE, TERRAIN-SPECIFIC CONDITIONING We start by assessing your current fitness and understanding your goal—a moderate day hike, an alpine trek, or a multi-day expedition. Early training builds aerobic base and efficiency; mid-training introduces hill repeats and elevation gain; late-stage training tapers and fine-tunes pacing. Different terrain demands different conditioning—rocky terrain needs footwork precision, steep terrain needs eccentric strength, muddy terrain needs power and balance. High-altitude hiking gets specific breathing work and conditioning to use available oxygen efficiently. INJURY PREVENTION & MULTI-DAY PREPARATION Hiking injuries—particularly knee and ankle problems—often stem from inadequate preparation. Our training includes strengthening stabilizer muscles, mobility work, and technique coaching so your nervous system learns efficient movement patterns. For multi-day treks, we build pacing strategies, movement economy, and mental resilience for sustained effort. FROM WEEKEND WARRIOR TO MOUNTAINEER Whether your goal is a comfortable weekend hike near Vancouver, a multi-day trek in Whistler or Squamish backcountry, or a major mountaineering expedition, we develop hiking fitness matched to your ambition. Training typically spans 8-16 weeks depending on your current fitness and goal difficulty—transforming hiking into something you genuinely enjoy.
