Kamal Purja Pun is a decorated veteran of the Indian Armed Forces, a recipient of the prestigious Sena Medal (SM) for his exceptional service, valor, and contribution to high-risk operations in extreme terrain. With an illustrious military career marked by discipline, resilience, and leadership, Kamal has served in some of the most demanding and hostile environments in the world, including the Siachen Glacier—the highest battlefield on Earth.

As a Highly Qualified Instructor at the Siachen Battle School, Kamal played a crucial role in training elite soldiers in glacial warfare, survival techniques, and high-altitude tactical operations. His in-depth knowledge of operating in sub-zero temperatures and life-threatening conditions made him a mentor to countless troops preparing for deployment in the world's most unforgiving terrains. Known for his calm demeanor and unshakeable focus under pressure, he consistently upheld the highest standards of instruction and combat readiness.

In addition to his role at Siachen, Kamal also served as a Lead Instructor at the Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIMWS)—a premier institution known for producing some of the best mountaineers and adventure instructors in the country. At JIMWS, Kamal imparted advanced skills in rock craft, ice craft, rescue operations, avalanche safety, and winter sports, inspiring civilian adventurers and defense personnel alike.

Kamal’s experience spans over two decades of specialized military training and high-altitude mountaineering, during which he summited several challenging Himalayan peaks and participated in numerous rescue missions and joint training operations. His deep understanding of terrain, weather patterns, and mountaineering strategy has made him a sought-after expert in both military and civilian mountain training domains.
